I was surprised with an in-town getaway for the weekend in mid-January.
I have been in the city for a year and a half and still haven’t visited Queens. I have only been to MoMA PS1. We stayed at the Boro Hotel in Long Island City. It is a renovated factory building that has been updated to match the millennial aesthetic of this decade. The hotel provided amazing views of midtown that I have not seen before.
That week was also one of the coldest weekends of all winter and with our touring schedule it was going to be rough walking in the below freezing weather. There was even snow (not pictured) once we left for Brooklyn.
We started off at the Isamu Noguchi Museum, drooling at all the amazing figures scattered throughout the building. We frequented restaurants in Astoria because I was determined to eat some Greek food. I highly recommend visiting Bahari Estiatorio for some authentic Greek food from the village.
My outfits for the weekend were all dark. I wanted my scarf and beanie to be the pops of color. I was looking cute in all of the photos until you reach the one of me in front of the Hunter’s Point Library where I am completely bundled up, covered face and all in the 20 F degree weather with 40 MPH winds. It was bitter cold!
I had a fun weekend, even though it was absolutely exhausting! It was short but a nice time exploring another part of the city.
my outfits: Prada re-edition crossbody (only sold in stores, linking a second hand bag here), AndOtherStories beanie, Acne Studios scarf, Everlane puffer coat
